“Some people read this step and become fearful that they are going to have to give up their life in service to others. They envision a life like Mother Teresa’s and they think, I’m not up for this task. I don’t want to live that kind of life. Take note of this: you will be of service to others when you are ready in the perfect way that suits you. We are not obsessive in our desire to help others. Opportunities present themselves. We see that we can help and we actually desire to. Having developed a sense of intuition, being tapped into the inspiration of our own heart, we simply go where we are told and do what is suggested, not because some outside entity forced us to, but because our own spirit wanted to go there. Remember: wherever you are on the path, more will be revealed. We stay open to what we are shown and demonstrate the willingness to help where we can. Sometimes this can be as simple as smiling at someone or puttingĀ  a hand out to a newcomer in a meeting.
